About the Store: Rosie Rees
Rosie Rees is a relationship and intimacy coach based in Perth, Australia. She specializes in yoga, meditation, and bodywork energetic healing. Rosie sells two crystal sex toy products: the Rose Quartz Pleasure Wand and the Jade Egg kegel exercisers. I think Rosie is a very unique sex toy retailer: it isn’t often you run into online retailers who are active in the community and work to empower people’s sexuality.
Shipping and Packaging
My order was placed on Feb 15 and I received my package on Feb 24. I was expecting shipping to take much longer because my package had to travel from Australia to Canada. The box that arrived was a simple, neat, brown box. No where on the box did it indicate its store origin or its contents, so it was very discreet.
Inside the box, the Jade Eggs were packed in a beautiful green box. The eggs were tucked into a black satin pillow and the box’s lid was lined with red satin. This kept the eggs safe from nicks and scratches and they arrived in mint condition.
Physical Details
For those of you that don’t know, Kegel balls are recommended to improve the strength of vaginal muscles. By wearing Kegel balls for at least 15 minutes a day, you can give your pelvic floor a solid workout which, over time, may increase your ability to orgasm. For more information on how to use these Kegel eggs, read Rosie Rees’ product page. Just a reminder, Kegel balls are not safe to use anally.
I was first drawn to these Kegel exercisers by their unique appearance. They’re absolutely unlike anything I’ve seen before. Shaped to resemble avian eggs, this Kegel set makes up the first stone sex toy I’ve owned apart from the Rosie Rees Rose Quartz Wand.
Jade is a stunning material for these eggs. A beautiful light forest green makes up the body of each egg, but that green is covered by darker natural striations in the rock. The rock is polished to a smooth surface. It isn’t polished to a glassy state, but I love the end result: it’s soft and smooth and texture-less. Jade symbolizes eternity and is meant to cleanse the body and spirit. I love the idea that the material of this Kegel set has an intrinsic meaning; it definitely makes me feel more attached to this Kegel set.
Jade is heavy, too. The largest egg is a very solid weight in my hand, a formidable challenge for the PC muscles. The smallest egg is light but, because it’s still so tiny, it still remains a Kegel challenge.
These eggs don’t come with a withdrawal cord, but a hole has been drilled in the top of each egg if you so wish to have a withdrawal cord. I haven’t found it necessary (I just push my PC muscles out and that launches the eggs out of me), but it’s nice that the option is there should you want a retrieval cord.
Stone is a non-toxic material. It’s eco-friendly and there aren’t any harmful chemicals or phthalates here, which is refreshing. I recommend washing them with chemical-free soap and warm water before and every use. Be sure to clean the small withdrawal cord hole thoroughly, as this is a great place for unpleasantries to accumulate. However, because these eggs aren’t covered in a sealant or polished to a glassy shine, they may have some degree of porosity.
To cleanse these eggs spiritually, Rosie Rees suggests that:
it’s important to cleanse your stones regularly to reenergise them so they remain useful. You can do so by washing them in the ocean (or salt water), keep in salt crystals overnight, leave out under a full moon, bury in the Earth for 24 hours wrapped in natural fiber cloth like cotton, cleanse with your intention by asking the Universe to cleanse the negative energy and re-energise the crystals for maximum potential, smudge with White Sage smoke for 3-4 minutes (this cleanses but does not energise) or leave in sunshine (or simply outside if it is cloudy) where they can be fully exposed to the elements of nature.”
My Experience with the Rosie Rees Jade Eggs
I suggest warming each egg with warm water before each use. Jade is chilly and it takes a few minutes to heat up to a comfortable room temperature. I loved that the eggs feel natural and earthy inside of me. My vagina often stings or feels irritated by any products with harsh chemicals/smells, but not with these. Being made of stone, these jade eggs feel remarkable body-safe and healthy.
I insert these in with water-based lubricant. One thing I love about the shape is that they’re easier to insert than round spherical Kegel balls; the tapered tip on these eggs provides a smooth (and not sharp) entry, even for the largest egg.
I found it difficult to use this Kegel set, but that speaks more about me than it does about the Kegel set. I went about this in a very Goldilocks sort of way. I started with the smallest egg. After inserting it and wearing it for a while, I realized that my vagina was struggling to keep it in. It kept on innocently sliding out of me, my walls not strong enough to retain it.
Then I tried the largest rock. Wow. At 79 grams and 6 cm high, this egg is big and it means business. I’m only able to talk about 5 steps before my vagina starts to wave a white flag and lets the egg plop out into my underwear.
Does this mean that these are bad eggs? NO. It means that my PC muscles aren’t toned enough to handle them, and using the smallest and the heaviest egg is something that I will be able to do once I am more advanced. As you may know, Kegel balls are harder to use the smaller and heavier they are, which is why the smallest and heaviest eggs are very challenging for me.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve found happiness wearing a combination of two eggs: the small egg and the medium egg. The medium egg is perfectly doable one its own, but combining the two gives me a good weight. I like to insert the smallest one first followed by the medium egg. The medium egg seems to stop the smallest egg from dislodging, and by using both eggs I get solid weight of 66 grams for my Kegel muscles to work out with. After a few hours of this, my PC muscles feel tired and I’m ready to remove them. This is great: it means that my PC muscles are being worked out and that continued use will tone them over time.
I’ve tried using all three at once, and my vagina just isn’t strong enough for it. This is something I’ll have to work up towards.
One thing I’ve noticed about wearing these jade eggs for an extended period of time is that the weight of them inside me automatically starts up my natural lubricant process, so you may notice that your underwear is damper than usual. It also slowly turns me on over the course of the day. This isn’t new for me, as I’ve experienced this with other Kegel balls, but I’m happy that this happens for me with this set too. It remains a nice perk for the hard work your pelvic floor has done to keep the eggs in.
Overall
What I can conclude about this set is that this is a great Kegel set for advanced users. I’m no stranger to Kegel exercises so my PC muscles are not particularly weak. Despite this, I found the smallest and the largest (heaviest) egg impossible to use, and I will need to work towards them as a goal.
This is a good purchase if you are an advanced user. And, unlike many Kegel balls, these jade eggs are beautiful, natural, and unique.
