Who is Sliquid?
I was first introduced to Sliquid products way back in 2014, when I bought a bottle of Sliquid Swirl Green Apple flavoured lubricant on a whim. I was skeptical about using a flavoured product, but it was cheap — and I ended up loving it so much. It was so much better than the more generic brands I’d tried. From then on, I was hooked on Sliquid.
Sliquid’s founder created the brand because his wife was allergic to the many iffy ingredients (like glycerin) often found in lubricants. They wanted bodysafe products for sensitive bodies, and have since released 100+ bodysafe lubricants and body care products.
Sliquid lubricants are made in the USA and are set apart by that they never use sugar/sugar derivatives (glycerin) or petrochemicals. Instead, they prioritize clean, safe, and natural ingredients. They’re also cruelty-free and never test on animals.
This means that all Sliquid products are:
- 100% vegan friendly.
- Free of parabens (which are associated with cancer).
- Free of sulphates (which can cause skin irritation).
- Free of DEA (which causes skin irritation, and in high amounts associated with cancer).
- Free of PEG (which are associated with cancer).
- Free of gluten, glycerine, and glycerol.
- Free of propylene glycol and sorbitol.
The above list is scary, but these ingredients are totally found in cheaper brands. For example, the famous K-Y Jelly lubricant, which is a staple of most pharmacy intimacy shelves, contains parabens. But by sticking with a brand like Sliquid, you can avoid so many carcinogenic and harmful ingredients.
In this (very long) post, I walk you through 9 different Sliquid products. I start with their basics Sliquid Naturals line, then go to their Sliquid Organics line.
Is this guide exhaustive? No. While I cover many of the major Sliquid products in this post, I don’t go over the flavoured Sliquid Swirl series, Stimulating O-gel, Satin moisturizer, plant-cellulose Sliquid Sassy, coconut oil Sliquid Soul, seaweed-extract Sliquid Sea, warming-effect Sliquid Sizzle, feminine wash, massage oil, or bubble bath.
Another note: while I didn’t have any issues using these lubricants on my sex toy materials, if you’re unsure if a lubricant will damage your sex toy, always check your toy’s official manual and spot-test a small area first.
Accessibility
This section is to help folks determine if they might have any issues using/accessing Sliquid products.
Scent:
The Sliquid lubricants covered in this post have a mild scent. Overall, they smell somewhat citrusy. Unlike many lubricants, they don’t smell like factory chemicals or glue. Instead, they smell like clean, bathy body products. One exception is the Sliquid Shine Toy Cleaner, which smells strongly of tea tree oil.
Ease of use:
Most Sliquid products are in a squeeze bottle. There’s a protective tamper-proof lining beneath the lid that needs to be removed. After that, all you need to do is tip the bottle, flip open the nozzle by pushing down the disc top cap, and squeeze. Alternatively, you can get the Touch Automated Warmer and Dispenser for hands-free lubricant dispensing.
Ingredients:
All of these products are free from parabens, sulphates, DEA, PEG, gluten, glycerine, glycerol, propylene glycol and sorbitol. The full ingredients for each lubricant are listed later in this post.
Price:
These products range from $6.99 to $23.99 per bottle, depending on the size and product chosen. This is cheaper than some other vegan-friendly brands.
Sliquid Naturals Series
The Sliquid Naturals Series is Sliquid’s basic collection. It’s designed to be simple and safe, with no frills.
Sliquid H2O
Sliquid H2O is Sliquid’s simplest water-based formula. It was their flagship product and there are only 5 ingredients. Because it’s water-based, it’s safe for all sex toy materials.
In use, I find that the Sliquid H2O is long-lasting. Its consistency is thin though, so it slides around a lot during application. Fortunately, if you mess it on your sheets, it doesn’t stain and it washes out completely.
I always recommend this lubricant to people who are buying silicone sex toys. The smallest bottle of this is only $6.99, and it’s a great staple for every bedroom.
The Sliquid H2O ingredients include: Purified Water, Plant Cellulose (from Cotton), Cyamopsis (Guar Conditioners), Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid
Choose Sliquid H2O if you want:
- Something inexpensive and simple.
- A basic water-based lubricant that’s vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and free of parabens and other harmful ingredients.
- A lubricant that you can use worry-free with any kind of sex toy material.
- Something that doesn’t stain and that rinses out perfectly.
Sliquid Silk
Sliquid Silk is something special. I reviewed it extensively and separately here, but here’s a quick rundown.
Sliquid Silk is a water-silicone hybrid lubricant. The best thing about it is that it looks like semen… it’s basically a cum lube.
It glides beautifully and, thanks to its silicone components, lasts a long longer than any water-based lubricant. One thing to note is that many silicone sex toys may have trouble with this because of its silicone component (silicone tends to bond to silicone and create tackiness), so you’ll need to carefully spot test first.
Even though it’s not fully water-based, it still washes out of my sheets without leaving stains.
Sliquid Silk ingredients include: Purified Water, Plant Cellulose, Isopropyl Palmitate, Polysorbate 20, Dimethicone, Emollient Ester, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid
Choose Sliquid Silk if:
- You want something that looks like realistic semen.
- A simplistic hybrid lubricant that’s vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and free of parabens and other harmful ingredients.
- You want something longer-lasting and thicker than water-based lubricants.
- You don’t mind spot-testing on any silicone sex toys first.
Sliquid Silver
Sliquid Silver is Sliquid’s premium silicone lubricant formula. It consists of an ultra-concentrated blend of high-quality silicones, and that means one thing: durability.
Yep, this lubricant is HELLA durable. A small amount (like, literally a few drops) lasts for hours.
It’s 100% waterproof, so you can use this in the shower/pool as well.
To clean it up, you’ll need to use soap and water and wash for a long time. Sliquid Silver is VERY tricky to get out of your sheets and clothing. The consistency is thin and drippy, so be super careful around nice sheets/clothes. Also, because this is a silicone lubricant, I don’t recommend using this on silicone toys. Stainless steel or glass toys are no problem though.
Sliquid Silver ingredients include: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, and Dimethiconol
- You want something super durable and long-lasting.
- You want a silicone lubricant that’s vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and free of parabens and other harmful ingredients.
- You don’t mind taking extra time with clean-up.
- You don’t mind not using this on silicone sex toys.
And if you want Sliquid Silver in a really fancy glass bottle, you can pick up the Sliquid Silver Studio Collection bottle (same formula, snazzy packaging).
Sliquid Organics Series
Sliquid Organics is — you guessed it — Sliquid’s organic collection. They’re infused with organic aloe vera and botanical extracts, and they’re basically fancy, eco-conscious versions of the Sliquid Naturals line. Their packaging uses more post-consumer recycle materials, and the extracts range from lovely things like green tea and peppermint oil to flax and sunflower seed.
Because the formulas have so much in common, there’s not much drastic difference between the different products. But, for my curious readers, here’s a breakdown of five lubricants and one toy cleaner in this series.
Sliquid Organics Natural
Sliquid Organics Natural is the most simplistic formula in the Sliquid Organics line.
It’s basically an organic version of Sliquid’s H2O product, with some extra organic extracts.
In terms of consistency, the Sliquid Organics Natural looks and feels the exact same to me as the H2O. It’s thin, drippy, but still has decent glide to it. It’s water-soluble, won’t stain your clothes or sheets, and washes out easily.
Practically speaking, the only difference between Sliquid Organics Natural and Sliquid H2O is that this product is infused with Aloe Vera and contains 95% organic materials. It’s specifically pH balanced, which is helpful. I also think it also has a stronger scent than the H2O (still mild overall though) — it smells more refreshing and cleansing.
Sliquid Organics Natural ingredients include: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Decolorized Leaf Juice, Organic Agar Agar, Organic Guar Gum, Natural Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Organic Hibiscus Extract, Organic Flax Extract, Organic Green Tea Extract, Organic Sunflower Seed Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid
Choose Sliquid Organics Natural if you want:
- An organic water-soluble lubricant that’s vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and free of parabens and other harmful ingredients.
- Something that’s pH-balanced.
- An easy-to-clean, non-staining lubricant.
- Something to use worry-free with all sex toy materials.
Sliquid Organics Natural Gel
Sliquid Organics Natural Gel is, essentially, a thick version of the Sliquid Organics Natural formula.
Natural Gel has the same formula as Natural, but they’ve doubled the amount of agar agar in it (agar agar is a jelly-like substance derived from red algae). This makes it slightly thicker and, in my opinion, more durable.
Its thicker consistency makes it more useful for anal play. But it’s still not super thick. If you’re looking a serious gel-like water-soluble lubricant, buy Wicked Simply’s Aqua Jelle instead (I reviewed it in this post). It’s not specifically organic, but it has many of the same building blocks and it’s also vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. Wicked’s formula is thicker and more jelly-like than Sliquid’s.
Sliquid Organics Natural Gel ingredients include: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Decolorized Leaf Juice, Organic Agar Agar, Organic Guar Gum, Natural Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Organic Hibiscus Extract, Organic Flax Extract, Organic Green Tea Extract, Organic Sunflower Seed Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid
Choose Sliquid Organics Natural Gel if you want:
- A slightly thicker, organic water-soluble lubricant that’s vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and free of parabens and other harmful ingredients.
- Something that’s pH-balanced.
- An easy-to-clean, non-staining lubricant.
- Something to use worry-free with all sex toy materials.
Sliquid Organics Sensation
I was super excited to test the water-soluble Sliquid Organics Sensation. It has the same look/consistency as the Sliquid Organics Natural, but this is a “stimulating” lubricant designed to heighten sensitivity.
In other words? Temperature play. It’s meant to feel cold when you apply it, then deliciously warm when you add friction.
I can confirm that when you smooth it onto your skin and leave it there, it feels pleasantly chilly against the air in the room. This is due to menthol. The larger surface area you apply it to, the stronger the overall effect.
As for the warming effect, though? I was expecting the lubricant itself to become very warm with friction, but I didn’t find that to be the case. Instead, when we added friction, my nerve receptors picked up some tingling and some confusing prickling of warmth… but it was extremely vague.
In short, I think this works well for a cooling effect, but the warming effect is a bit lacklustre. I haven’t tried Sliquid Sizzle, but I’m wondering if that’d work better.
Sliquid Organics Sensation ingredients include: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Decolorized Leaf Juice, Organic Agar Agar, Organic Peppermint Oil, Natural Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Organic Menthol, Organic Hibiscus Extract, Organic Flax Extract, Organic Green Tea Extract, Organic Sunflower Seed Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid
Choose Sliquid Organics Sensation if you want:
- An organic lubricant that’s vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and free of parabens and other harmful ingredients.
- Something that will feel cooling.
- Something that’s pH-balanced.
- An easy-to-clean, non-staining lubricant.
- Something to use worry-free with all sex toy materials.
Sliquid Organics Oceanics
Sliquid Organics Oceanics sounds quite fancy. Like the rest in this series, it’s 95% organic and is infused with aloe vera. But this adds natural seaweed extracts!
Specifically, it adds Carrageenan (a natural thickener from red edible seaweed) and Nori, which is packed with minerals and is often used in Japanese cuisine.
In theory, you’d think the Carrageenan would make the Oceanics thicker than other products in this line.
In practice, though, I found it to have the same consistency/feel as the basic organic version — Sliquid Organics Natural.
They’re priced the same, and the only physical, tangible difference I found during use was that the Oceanics has a much milder scent than the Organics Natural. Beyond that, I’m shrugging.
Sliquid Organics Oceanics ingredients include: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Decolorized Leaf Juice, Organic Agar Agar, Carrageenan, Organic Nori, Organic Cyamopsis (Guar) Gum, Organic Hibiscus Extract, Organic Flax Extract, Organic Green Tea Extract, Organic Sunflower Seed Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid
Choose Sliquid Organics Oceanics if you want:
- An organic lubricant that’s vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and free of parabens and other harmful ingredients.
- Something you know comes infused with extracts from the sea.
- An easy-to-clean, non-staining lubricant.
- Something to use worry-free with all sex toy materials.
Sliquid Organics Silk
Sliquid Organics Silk is, essentially, an organic version of the previously mentioned Silk.
Instead of a water/silicone hybrid, this is an aloe/silicone hybrid with infused organic extracts.
It looks and feels similar to me as Sliquid Silk. Most obviously, both look very much like semen. Though I know it has a different formula, Organics Silk feels like it has the same consistency as the non-organic version. Like the original version, it’s thicker than purely water-based lubricant, lasts long, and feels durable. It smells nicer though, and it has an aspect of soothing moisturizing (like a lotion) that the non-organic Sliquid Silk doesn’t have.
Because it contains silicone, you’ll want first spot-test it with any silicone toys, and there’s a chance it’ll be trickier to eradicate from your sheets than water-based lubricant — but I haven’t had any problems.
Sliquid Organics Silk ingredients include: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Decolorized Leaf Juice, Organic Agar Agar, Organic Guar Gum, Dimethicone, Isopropyl Palmitate, Polysorbate 20, Natural Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Organic Hibiscus Extract, Organic Flax Extract, Organic Green Tea Extract, Organic Sunflower Seed Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid
Choose Sliquid Organics Silk if:
- You want something that looks like realistic semen.
- An organic aloe/silicone hybrid lubricant that’s vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and free of parabens and other harmful ingredients.
- You want something longer-lasting and thicker than water-based lubricants.
- You don’t mind spot-testing on any silicone sex toys first.
Sliquid Shine Organic Toy Cleaner
Sliquid Shine isn’t a lubricant, so it’s an anomaly in this list — instead, it’s Sliquid’s sex toy cleaner.
Sex toy cleaners are handy when you want peace of mind — they come with anti-bacterial properties. But you want to be pretty careful about using harsh chemicals with something you’ll later insert back into your body. If you’d like a gentle, non-toxic sex toy cleaner, this is a good option.
Sliquid Shine contains tea tree oil and castor oil, which give this formula natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. For those of you who haven’t smelled tea tree oil before, it’s quite unlike anything out there — strong, but pleasant, and reminds me of eucalyptus. Tea tree oil varies in quality, so it’s good that Sliquid uses organic tea tree oil in their formula.
To use, you just spray it directly on your toy, wipe it down, then rinse with water. When I tested this, I had no problems with the materials I tried it on (silicone, ABS plastic, glass, and stainless steel). It didn’t leave a residue after rinsing.
Sliquid Shine ingredients include: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Decolorized Leaf Juice, Organic Tea Tree Oil, Organic Castor Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil
Choose Sliquid Shine if:
- You’d like to apply a natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal solution to your toys.
- You’d like something organic, hypoallergenic, and non-toxic.
- You’d like your toy cleaner to be vegan friendly and cruelty-free.
