Design
The Liberator Flip Ramp (link for Canadians here) is a foldable piece of sex furniture. In its folded form, it looks like an innocent cube-shaped ottoman, one that can prop you up high and rock during thrusting. Once it’s lying flat, you have a stable, curvy base that supports your body and gives you the angles you need for better sex.
The Liberator Flip Ramp consists of two curvy foam blocks. One block/end is short and curves upwards at the tip, giving you a 4″ boost (hint: good for missionary style). The larger end is considerably taller at the end (~10-11″) and curves downwards, making it great for positions where you’re sloping over it (ie doggy style).
It’s basically a cheaper, shorter, smaller, less fancy version of the exorbitant Liberator Esse Lounger (which, let’s face it, is on everyone’s wishlist but few can afford it!). It’s also cheaper than the Liberator Wedge and Ramp Combo, which are two totally separate pieces.
Unlike many of Liberator’s products, the Liberator Flip Ramp does have a somewhat discreet appearance. Once it’s folded into a cube and in the corner of your room, it can discreetly look like an ottoman or a footstool. This is especially true if you go for the grey (“Platinum”), black, brown (“Expresso”) or beige (“Champagne”) colours. I got mine in Merlot, which is a deep, burgundy red. It stands out a bit more, but this colour is soooo luxurious and romantic so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Accessibility
This section is to help folks determine if they might have any issues using/accessing the Liberator Flip Ramp:
- Size: The Liberator Flip Ramp has two sizes. In its cube form, it’s approx. 19″ x 19″ x 15″. When it’s unfolded/flat, it’s approx 37″ long x 19″ wide x 12″ tall (on the tallest end).
- Weight: My scale weighs this as 8 lbs.
- Maneuverability: You’ll need two arms to move this around. You also need to be able to climb onto it. Once you’re on it, it can potentially help folks use positions that they are otherwise unable to do.
- Price: At $230 USD or $399 CAD, this costs quite a pretty penny. However, it’s the top-of-the-line brand for sex furniture and this is built to last. Plus, you can get 15% off your whole purchase with coupon code RUBY .
How to Use the Liberator Flip Ramp
The Liberator suggests ^ a variety of ways you can use the Liberator Flip Ramp. While the positions featured show male&female sex, this is also absolutely suitable for gay and lesbian partners.
When it’s in cube form, it basically just acts as a pedestal one partner can prop themselves on. But the Flip Ramp shines in its flat form… the high curve can prop the hips up high for doggy style for 69. Or, when oriented the other way, the low curve gives your hips a little boost for missionary style.
The pictures show it better than I could explain!
Packaging
Though the Flip Ramp itself is quite large (Cube: 19″ x 19″ x 15″ & Flat: 37″ x 19″ x 12″), the box you receive won’t be giant. That’s because the Liberator Flip Ramp comes vacuum compressed in a cling-wrap type plastic cylinder (pictured above). The packaged form is MUCH smaller than the end product, which is perfect for shipping costs and discretion.
The cover and instructions are in a separate bag.
As you peel off the cling wrap (don’t cut it open!), it springs into shape. The foam blocks of the flip ramp are in two separate pieces. The cover is a single construction, though, so once the cover is on it’s all one piece.
Material and Care
There are three material components to the Liberator Flip Ramp:
- The coloured cover is a “velvish” exterior made from 100% polyester. It has a thick, velvety feel to it.
- The black liner is also 100% polyester, shiny, and waterproof.
- The foam pillow itself is a polyurethane that is strong enough to support body weight.
To clean the velvish exterior, Liberator recommends washing it in cold water and drying it on low heat. I put mine through my washer and dryer separately (in case the red colour ran) and I had no issues with shrinkage or damage.
My Experience with the Liberator Flip Ramp
It’s hard to put into words how the Liberator Flip Ramp has changed sex for my husband and me.
Perhaps the simplest way to describe it is: sex is more comfortable, some positions feel SO much more exhibitionist and, while I’ve never considered myself a pillow princess, I do actually now literally feel like a princess on a pillow.
I can literally just lie back and enjoy. I don’t have to adjust my body or do much work…the pillow and my partner take care of that. This thing is SO comfortable/cozy.
Liberator’s products aren’t cheap, but they really are the best of the best. The Liberator Flip Ramp feels incredibly well made. The foam pillows are firm and support all of me (even though i’m not very slender [5ft10 and currently 180 lbs]). The cover feels velvety, soft and luxurious, and doesn’t fade in the wash or shrink or pill. The zippers are made solidly and don’t get stuck or out of alignment. The whole thing just feels like it’s made to last.
One benefit I didn’t expect was that the Liberator Flip Ramp makes sex on the floor comfortable for me. We can bring it camping or toss it on the bedroom floor and voila! No hard surfaces digging into me (your partner’s knees, on the other hand, might need a blanket).
More importantly, the Liberator Flip Ramp adds some novelty to the bedroom. I find it incredibly comfortable (almost cozy) to lie on, and we both enjoy how exposing it makes me feel.
Those angles also make penetration deeper, which is always a plus. Our personal favourite is the “Lucky Stars” position (ie Missionary) because (A) the angle increases the chance of A-spot stimulation for me and (B) I’m still able to use my bullet vibe on my clitoris and (C) my legs are in a better position to tense and squeeze my Kegels for easier orgasms. I’ve had SO many great orgasms in this position, more than I usually do in missionary. Liberator has obviously calculated the right angles to use here.
Any downsides?
We have a VERY soft bed mattress and, during missionary-style sex, the whole thing angles downward (along with the mattress) from my partner’s body weight. This reduces the effectiveness of the boost-up angle for missionary sex. We crammed a pillow underneath the Flip Ramp and that helped correct the angle. Not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of if you have a soft mattress.
I also wish the lower end was thicker. I loved the Wedge’s 7″ tall boost. The lower end of the Flip Ramp is only 4″, so it’s not quite the same angle for deep penetration. However, if your partner’s legs are long, you could just do missionary on the other/taller 10″ end, which will give you an amazing boost for deep penetration.
Liberator Flip Ramp Review – Overall Thoughts
The Liberator Flip Ramp is a versatile piece of sex furniture. We enjoyed it even more than we expected. Yes, it’s turned me into a pillow princess, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We love that it folds up into a cube-shaped ottoman for discrete storage (making it a lot more storage-sensible than some of Liberator’s other options). It’s pricey, but it’s well-made and should last a good many years. We wish we got one sooner!
