What is this?
Wicked Simply by Wicked Sensual Care is a gorgeous line of personal lubricants for use during sex or with sex toys.
These initially caught my attention because their water-based and hybrid formulas come in “Jelle” versions, which I’ve never played with before. But they also come with other unique, attractive features.
One feature that jumped out to me is that they’re paraben-free. Paraben-free products are surprisingly hard to find. Parabens are very common preservatives used in body products, but they’ve been associated with cancers, so you really don’t want them in your lubricant. I wanted to feature paraben-free products so more people are aware of these cleaner alternatives.
All of their products are also plant-based, vegan, pH-balanced, and cruelty-free. I believe their cruelty-free certification is through P.E.T.A. And the pH-balancing is good to have — vaginas have a specific pH range, so you don’t want something that’s going to majorly disrupt that balance.
All of these formulas come in simple, white, non-explicit, gender-neutral packaging. They look like any other bottles of face cream or moisturizer.
Accessibility
So just how accessible is the Wicked Simply lubricant series? This section is to help folks determine if they’d have any difficulty using these.
Scents:
The Wicked Simply lubricants are largely scent-free. I really have to strain to detect any particular smell. When I hold them up to my nose, the Simply Aqua and Simply Aqua Jelle smell vaguely sweet and citrusy, and the Simply Hybrid and Simply Hybrid Jelle smell a bit oily (I first thought it was the olive leaf extract, but it might be the silicone I’m smelling). To me, the scents are barely discernable and, for all intents and purposes, these are scent-free. I’ve definitely come across other “scent-free” body products that have much stronger smells.
Ease of use (non-Jelle series):
For these push-down pump bottles, you initially need to take off the protective plastic wrapping around the pumps. To “unlock” the pumps, you turn the nozzle to one side. Then you can freely push down to get lubricant (I can do this with one hand). To lock the pump again, you turn it in the opposite direction. Alternatively, you can get the Touch Automated Warmer and Dispenser for hands-free lubricant dispensing.
Ease of use (Jelle series):
The Jelle series uses squeeze tubes. You initially need to unscrew the cap and remove a protective metallic seal. Once you’ve screwed the cap back on, squeeze the tube to get lubricant to come out. You’ll need both hands to do this. Alternatively, you can get the Touch Automated Warmer and Dispenser for hands-free lubricant dispensing.
Ingredients:
All of these products are free from Propylene glycol, Glycerin, parabens and de-sensitizers. They’re also pH-balanced. The full ingredients for each lubricant is listed later in this post.
Price:
These products range from $11 to $14 per bottle. You’re paying a bit extra for knowing it’s vegan, cruelty-free, free of parabens etc.
Wicked Simply Aqua Series
The Wicked Simply Aqua series is Wicked’s water-based formula. Though it’s enhanced with olive leaf extract, no silicone is added. There are two versions: the Wicked Simply Aqua and the Wicked Simply Aqua Jelle.
Wicked Simply Aqua
The Wicked Simply Aqua is Wicked’s basic water-based formula. During use, it’s very similar to most other water-based lubricants I’ve tried.
The overarching experience with this formula is that it’s slippery and slides around a lot. The consistency is thin. When I apply it, it’ll quickly spread and drip. It’s more drippy than the other lubricants in this post.
There’s no discomfort during use (some harsh lubricants can cause a burning sensation). There’s no residue left behind and it washes out perfectly. Another pro about this lubricant is that it’s safe to use with all materials — there’s no silicone in it, so I don’t have to worry about doing a silicone spot test on any of my silicone toys.
During use, I’ve found it to last a solid amount of time, but reapplication is required for longer play sessions. Because it’s so drippy, it’s also easy to get it on the sheets… fortunately, it dries clear and washes out perfectly.
The Wicked Simply Aqua ingredients include: Water, Propanediol (corn), Cellulose gum (cottonseed), Hydroxyethylcellulose (tree bark), Disodium EDTA, Olea Europaea (olive) leaf extract, Stevia Rebaudiana (stevia) Leaf/Stem Extract, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, and Potassium Sorbate.
Choose this option if:
- You want a basic water-based lubricant that’s vegan, cruelty-free, free of parabens, and pH-balanced.
- You want something that you can use worry-free with any kind of sex toy material.
- You want something that doesn’t stain and that rinses out perfectly.
Wicked Simply Aqua Jelle
The Wicked Simply Aqua Jelle is a water-based formula with a thicker consistency. It’s grippy. When I apply it, it’ll only slowly drip (kind of like the consistency of honey). Even in droplet form (like the picture above), I’m not too worried about it dripping or spreading where I don’t want it to.
In other words, it’s really easy to control, and I’m digging it. It’s not easy to find this consistency with water-based lubricants.
For that reason, I’ve become a huge fan of the Simply Aqua Jelle — it brings all the benefits of water-based lubricant (i.e., easy to clean, safe with all toys) without the annoying drippy consistency that you usually get. It’s amazingly thick. We can apply it without much worry about it dripping off onto the sheets. It doesn’t get tacky, we’ve found it to last long, and it’s also safe for latex condoms. It’d be particularly useful for those of you who love anal sex or pegging.
The Wicked Simply Aqua Jelle ingredients include: Water, Propanediol (corn), Hydroxyethylcellulose (tree bark), Cellulose gum (cottonseed), Disodium EDTA, Aloe Barbadensis (aloe vera) Leaf Extract, Olea Europaea (olive) leaf extract, Stevia Rebaudiana (stevia) Leaf/Stem Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, and Citric Acid.
Choose this option if:
- You want a water-based lubricant that’s vegan, cruelty-free, free of parabens, and pH-balanced.
- You want a lubricant with a thick, gel-like consistency that doesn’t drip everywhere.
- You want something that you can use worry-free with any kind of sex toy material.
- You’re looking for a go-to lubricant for anal play.
- You want something that doesn’t stain and that rinses out perfectly.
Wicked Simply Hybrid Series
The Wicked Simply Hybrid series is Wicked’s water/silicone blend formula. It’s also enhanced with olive leaf extract, but the silicone is what gives it its real richness. There are two versions: the Wicked Simply Hybrid and the Wicked Simply Hybrid Jelle.
Wicked Simply Hybrid
The Wicked Simply Hybrid is your typical hybrid lubricant formula — it combines water-based lubricant with silicone additives, which gives it a milky-white appearance (inadvertently doubling as cum lube).
During use, I’ve found that it’s not particularly drippy — I can control it fairly well. Its consistency is thick and velvety, which feels divine. It’s long-lasting and doesn’t require as much re-application (if any) as Wicked’s Aqua series. As a side note, if you’re into shower sex, the silicone-components in this lubricant help it last longer in water.
The Wicked Simply Hybrid ingredients include: Water, Propanediol (corn), Polyglyceryl-2 Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane (silicone), Dimethiconol (silicone), Cyclohexasiloxane (silicone), Olea Europaea (olive) leaf extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose (cottonseed), Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, and Potassium Sorbate.
Choose this option if:
- You want a basic silicone/water hybrid lubricant that’s vegan, cruelty-free, free of parabens, and pH-balanced.
- You want your lubricant to have a milky-white appearance.
- You don’t mind spot-testing it first on your silicone sex toys (it says it’s safe for all toys, but because there’s silicone in there I strongly recommend you spot-test first).
- You want something that lasts longer than water-based lubricants.
- You don’t mind working a little harder to clean it from sheets (the silicone components will want to linger).
Wicked Simply Hybrid Jelle
The Wicked Simply Hybrid Jelle is the bomb. It’s SO gel-like (stays in a glob together) and very grippy.
This is again Wicked’s Hybrid formula (so they’ve added silicone to a water-based formula). This makes it thicker and velvety compared to water-based lubricants. But then they’ve gone and made it even more gel-like. I can literally dangle a clump of it upside-down from my finger without it dripping to the sheets.
In other words, it’s considerably more gel-like than the Aqua Jelle, so you’ll want to choose this option if you want something SUPER thick. So much glide!
Colour-wise, it’s less milky-white than the basic Hybrid formula.
The Wicked Simply Hybrid Jelle ingredients include: Water, Propanediol (corn), Cyclopentasiloxane (silicone), Cellulose Gum (cottonseed), Sodium Polyacrylate, Dimethicone (silicone), Trideceth-6 (which helps emulsify everything together), PEG/PPG18/18 Dimethicone (silicone), Olea Europa (olive leaf) Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate.
Choose this option if:
- You want an ultra-thick hybrid lubricant that’s vegan, cruelty-free, free of parabens, and pH-balanced.
- You want something that globs/grips, not drips.
- You want the velvet slickness of a hybrid lubricant.
Wicked Simply Lubricant Review – Overall Thoughts
While the Wicked Simply Aqua and Wicked Simply Hybrid are two good basic lubricants, I’m pretty smitten with their gel-like cousins: the Wicked Simply Aqua Jelle and the Wicked Simply Hybrid Jelle.
Regardless of which one you choose, they’re all vegan, plant-based, paraben-free, pH-balanced, and cruelty-free. By enhancing it with olive leaf extract, you’re also getting some extra soothing moisturization.
