Design
The Lelo Sila Cruise is described by Lelo as a “sonic clitoral massager”, which is just a fancy way of saying it’s an air-pulse vibrator or, as many like to call it, a ‘clit sucker.’ This uses pressure waves to deliver touchless orgasms.
I was initially drawn to this toy with its unique design. The Lelo Sila is a small, super-soft device with a velvety silicone body and beautiful gold-plated plastic along the sides. In proportion to the body, the mouth is LARGE. It’s possibly the largest mouth I’ve seen on a pressure wave toy like this. The opening is 2 cm long and 1.5 cm wide.
The large mouth design has a purpose. They designed it with the idea of super soft and gentle clitoral stimulation that spreads out to touch all the right spots. It’s not going to stimulate just the clitoris; it’ll also include the surrounding areas.
LELO Sila vs LELO Sila Cruise
The LELO Sila Cruise (left above) and the LELO Sila (right above) are quite identical. Physically, there is literally nothing to distinguish them by.
However, the Sila Cruise comes with the automatic Cruise Control function. Cruise Control can sense when the motor starts to slow down. It reacts by giving the motor a boost through something called PWM (Pulse Wave Modulation). What does that mean for you? It means you get to enjoy a steady stream of power and intensity. It’s all about that consistent experience, so you’re not distracted by varying vibrations.
In simple terms: the motor reserves some energy for when you’re going to climax — it senses this when you press it really firmly against you, and it makes sure vibration intensity doesn’t drop.
When there aren’t any sales on, the Sila is $219 CAD and the Sila Cruise is $249 CAD, so you’re paying approx $30 for the Cruise Control feature.
The LELO Sila Cruise is also 100% waterproof and USB rechargeable. It is advertised as “whisper quiet,” but I personally think it’s one of the noisier pressure-wave toys I’ve come across.
Both the Sila and the Sila Cruise come in 3 colour options: Aqua, Lilac, and Pink. All three colours are lovely pastels. The lilac is a gentle, airy shade, and I love it.
How to Use the LELO Sila Cruise
- There are 3 buttons on the LELO Sila Cruise: (+), (()), and (–).
- This comes travel locked. To unlock it, press the (+) and (–) buttons at the same time for a few seconds, until a light flashes.
- Press the (+) button to turn it on.
- Center the opening of the mouth over your clitoris. The more air-tight the fit, the stronger the sensation.
- Tap the (()) middle button to cycle through the 8 patterns.
- Tap the (-) and (+) buttons to change the strength.
- To turn it off, press and hold the middle (()) button.
If you haven’t used it for 20 minutes, it’ll automatically turn itself off.
The Cruise Control function is automatic and cannot specifically be turned on or off.
Packaging
The LELO Sila (above left) and the LELO Sila Cruise (above right) come packaged beautifully in LELO’s signature black and gold packaging. The Sila Cruise’s box is larger, though the contents are the same.
Inside the box, you receive the Sila, a pamphlet on charging and getting started, a warranty card, a QR code linking to a contest, a packet of lubricant, your charging cord, and a drawstring pouch. For the full manual, you’ll need to go here to the website.
Material and Care
The LELO Sila Cruise is coated in silicone, making this non-porous and non-toxic (free of phthalates). This specific silicone finish is very matte, silky, and soft to the touch. The gold plates along the mid-section of the toy are made of ABS plastic, another solid material.
To clean, I recommend just washing the LELO Sila Cruise in warm, soapy water before and after each use. Allow it to dry before storing it away. See the manual for full cleaning instructions.
If you’d like to use a lubricant (which I always recommend), opt for a good quality water-based lubricant. LELO sells some here, but any water-based lubricant from your pharmacy should do the trick.
The charging port is at the base of the LELO Sila Cruise (there’s a little hole). Insert the needle-end of your USB charging cord (included in the box) into that hole, then plug it into your computer or a USB wall adaptor. While charging, an LED light will flash. When it’s fully charged (after about 2 hours), the LED light will become steady. A full charge takes about 2 hours and gives you up to 2 hours of playtime.
When you get your LELO Sila Cruise, register for the warranty right away and keep your receipt. This will protect against manufacturing defects.
My Experience with the LELO Sila Cruise
For the most part, the Sila Cruise performs quite similarly to the ($30 cheaper) Sila. However, at the top speeds, especially when pressing firmly against you (and activating Cruise Control) the Sila is definitely a pinch stronger. It is, however, also louder.
While I enjoyed the LELO Sila and Sila Cruise, I am floored by how expensive these are. When not on sale, the LELO Sila is $219 CAD and the LELO Sila Cruise is $249 USD. That is a lot of money for a pressure wave sex toy. I am not convinced that these products are so particularly unique to deserve the price tag — plenty of other sex toys offer similar pleasure for a fraction of the cost. I suspect that those who buy this will do so more for the lovely aesthetics, warranty, and gift-worthy presentation.
LELO Sila Cruise Review – Overall Thoughts
The LELO Sila Cruise feels luxurious. The presentation is lovely, the design is beautiful, and the orgasms are strong. The $30 Cruise Control upgrade gives you a pinch more power if you know you need a lot of strength. I really wish these were more financially accessible, though, because $219-$249 feels shockingly expensive nowadays.
