Design
The LELO Enigma Wave is a visually interesting dual stimulation sex toy. While most traditional dual stimulators look like the classic Rabbit sex toy, the Enigma Wave certainly changes course.
At first glance, the body reminded me of a LELO Sona — you’ve got a gently bulbus, gently curving handle with a suction mouth at the end. But then it quickly shifts into a U-shaped shaft — this part is G-spot insertable, and features both vibration and a waving motion.
I love the novel look of this toy — It has swoops and dips and, if you’re not familiar with sex toys, you might not even know what you’re look at.
While this toy keeps things quite simple and streamlined, it does have a decorative element at the back — a beautiful, iridescent plate that offers a splash of colour: deep purple to light turquoise.
Like any good luxury sex toy, the LELO Enigma Wave is made of bodysoft silicone. It has a rechargeable battery and it’s 100% waterproof.
It is offered in two colours: Purple and Black. The Purple is fairly muted. I wish they offered a less conventional choice as well (like blue or red or green).
How to Use the LELO Enigma Wave
The LELO Enigma Wave has 3 control buttons along the handle: (–), ((()) and (+).
- Press the (+) or (()) button to turn it on.
- Position the Enigma Wave over your vulva. The suction mouth should be nestled over your clitoris, and the shaft should dip inside your vagina.
- Tap the (()) button to cycle through the 8 modes. The modes consist of a variety of vibration patterns, with or without a waving motion.
- Use the (+) and (–) buttons to increase/decrease suction/vibration intensity. This doesn’t speed up the waving motion at all.
- To turn it off, press and hold the (()) button.
Packaging
The LELO Enigma Wave is packaged beautifully in a sleek black box with gold accents. As with all of LELO’s products, the packaging feels luxurious. The Enigma Wave can be seen through a clear window on the front.
Inside the box, you receive the Enigma Wave, a black satin storage pouch, a white USB charging cable, a sample packet of LELO’s lubricant, a warranty card, and an instruction manual. The manual is also located online here.
Material and Care
The LELO Enigma Wave is coated in silicone, making this bodysafe and non-toxic. This specific silicone finish is very silky and soft to the touch. The iridescent section along the back of the toy is made of ABS plastic, another solid material.
To clean, LELO recommends spraying your Enigma Wave with toy cleaner and then rinsing. I personally usually just wash it in warm, soapy water before and after each use. Allow it to dry before storing it away. See the manual for full cleaning instructions.
If you’d like to use a lubricant (which I always recommend), stick to a water-based one. LELO sells some here.
This toy is rechargeable. The charging port is at the base (there’s a little hole). Insert the needle-end of your USB charging cord (included in the box) into that hole, then plug it into your computer or a USB wall adaptor. While charging, an LED light behind the buttons will flash. When it’s fully charged, the LED light will become steady. A full charge should get you up to 2 hours of playtime. The battery will also give you 90 days of standby time.
One thing to note is that, after 20 minutes of being turned on, the Enigma Wave will automatically turn off (this is a safety measure so it doesn’t overheat).
When you get your LELO Enigma Wave, register for the 1-year warranty using the included Warranty Card and keep your receipt. This will protect against manufacturing defects.
My Experience with the LELO Enigma Wave
Suction
The LELO Enigma Wave‘s suction prowess is quite something. See the round mouth opening? This is a pressure-wave suction function; it stimulates your clitoris without physically touching it. The rim of your mouth goes around your clitoris so that your clitoris is nestled in the empty cavity. Then, a pressure chamber makes a series of tiny microsuctions to create a sucking sensation. I found this one to be quite potent — but I think if you have a larger clitoris, you might struggle a little. The opening itself is only about 10mm across, and the lip is 5mm around that. If you have a large clitoris, you might not be able to get the mouth entirely over your clitoris, so keep that in mind.
Personally, I find the suction can bring on orgasms quite quickly. However, it is VERY LOUD when this is pressed against your body. If you have roommates, I’d be a little wary.
Vibrations
How about the LELO Enigma Wave‘s vibrations? Personally, I find them meh. There are supposedly “three powerful motors offer an all-encompassing sensation inside and out” but I personally find the result underwhelming. The vibrations in the G-spot shaft just feel buzzy and surface-level, to me.
Waving
The third function of this toy is the waving motion.
See below for a video of the Waving Motion:
Though it doesn’t look like much — and indeed, the LELO Enigma Wave doesn’t deliver a jackhammer-strength intense G-spot workout… I still love it. My body orgasms when I get intense clitoral stimulation with only a *bit* of G-spot stimulation, and that is exactly what this toy does. I get pushed over the edge so quickly when using the waving motion, and for that reason alone, I think the price jump from the OG Enigma to the Enigma Wave is worth it.
LELO Enigma Wave Review – Overall Thoughts
I think the LELO Enigma Wave is best suited to people who: (a) want an all-in-one toy, (b) like intense clitoral suction, (c) like gentle G-spot stimulation. It is not suited to those who need strong G-spot vibrations or deep G-spot pressure… if you do, then perhaps consider just picking up the standalone LELO Sona and then a dedicated G-spot toy.
