A Review of Bad Dragon’s David the Werewolf: Or, the one that makes you wish werewolves were real
Okay, that’s it for me…I surrender to being totally and unequivocally hooked on Bad Dragon toys.
Shipping and Packaging
My order was placed on Feb 2nd and was shipped out from their Arizona base on Feb 5th. The box arrived at my door on Feb 9th. This is a remarkably fast process time for a custom-made toy. It was delivered in a simple brown box and the international customs packing slip listed the contents as “silicone sculpture.” Inside the box, the toy was buried under purple tissue paper and packing peanuts and it was encased by a plastic bag: one side of the bag is clear to peak through and the other side has the company logo. Be sure to check over your toy before taking it out of this plastic packaging.
Design: David the Werewolf is, as it’s aptly named, modeled after a stylized representation of a fantasy werewolf. I’d never seen or bought a werewolf-style dildo before, so this was an exciting opportunity for me to explore them.
I initially assumed that David would be lacking in detail and texture. Other Bad Dragon toys have scales and spikes and lines, and David looks relatively detail-less. But I was wrong. When you look closely, you realize that it’s covered in detail. The base is an oval sheathe with fur engravings for an added fantasy look. The bottom half of the shaft consists entirely of a thick rounded knot that tapers up into a smaller bulge. A large, pointed head sits on top all of this, detailed with a urethral impression and a subtle coronal ridge. The entire body of the dildo is peppered with subtle details: veins, tendons, and shadows. The overall effect: a real beauty.
Size: I ordered David in medium. In Bad Dragon speech, that means that this dildo is big. Very big. Its head has a diameter of 2 inches. Its shaft narrows down to 1.80 inches, but then widens considerably to 2.50 inches at the knot. Usable length runs at just over 7 inches. If these numbers sound too big for you, David comes in a size Small, and that is considerably less intimidating. But, if you’re up to the challenge, David runs up to an Extra Large Size, with a usable length of 10.25 inches.
Firmness: Oh my. I can’t ever go back to medium firmness. I ordered David the Werewolf in split firmness, with a firm (8) base and soft (3) shaft. I am now absolutely obsessed with the soft squishy nature of the shaft. The thinnest part of the shaft is the pointed tip of the head, and that part feels akin to a gummy bear. The knot feels tougher because it’s so much thicker. But, seriously, it feels so good to squish. If you order David the Werewolf in soft firmness from Bad Dragon, you might find yourself keeping it on your desk just so you can reach over and cop a squeeze every few minutes.
Color: I also had fun with the custom color fade. Bad Dragon lists a warning that, “due to the nature of colored pigments, colors will not be as strong and vibrant as displayed in the color samples on screen.” David definitely turned out much darker and less saturated than I imagined. Even though the colors are so different than I imagined, they’ve definitely grown on me and now I can’t really imagine David being any other color. However, based on this, if you want a brighter red I suggest you make sure to boost the saturation and brightness to brighter/more colorful than you would like the end-product to be.
Additional Features: Instead of getting a cumtube attachment, I opted for a suction cup. The suction cup isn’t an additional plastic attachment like many dildos. Instead, the base has been hollowed out. This thing sticks to any flat surface. The wall, the shower, the window, the fridge, the car…It stays put until you gently lift the edge of the base with your fingernail and peel it off.
Material and Care: Being 100% silicone, David the Werewolf is non-toxic, phthalate-free, non-porous, and waterproof. I wash mine with warm water and soap, but you could also sterilize it by boiling it, washing it with a bleach solution, or tossing it in the dishwasher. Only use a water-based lube, such as Bad Dragon’s fun Cum Lube.
So, if you want your dildo to look like mine, here are the customization options I chose:
- Medium Size
- Soft Shaft, Firm Base
- No Cumtube
- Yes Suction Cup
- Custom Split Fade (Color #1: 452200; Color #2: 8A0000; Color #3: 510000)
- *Note that the lighting in my pictures is much brighter and cleaner than usual indoor lighting, so if you go with the color codes I used, your dildo will only look that red and vibrant outdoors under white sunlight.
The first thing I realized when I held David in my hands was how warmed up I’d need to be. In medium, David is no small feat, so be sure to use plenty of water-based lubricant and, on the first try, go very slowly. It’s so girthy that I’ve only been able to get up to the crest of the knot (roughly 5 inches down the shaft), but I tip my hat to you if you can manage the full shaft.
I was worried about using such a pointed dildo. The head looks much sharper than any of my other dildos, so I wasn’t sure how my vagina would handle it. To my (happy) surprise, I wasn’t even aware of anything pointy. My cervix never felt jabbed or bruised. I can’t speak for the medium or firm silicone options, but the soft shaft definitely went a long way in making sure that the pointy tip of the head never hurt. After all, when I squeeze it with my fingers, the pointed tip feels like a gummy bear, so I think it just sort of cushioned against my cervix in a mushy and benign way.
But if you think that means that the whole experience is lacking in pleasure, think again. This dildo feels freaking incredible. During each session with it, my partner has to stop and make sure I’m not crying because I’m literally whimpering, my eyes watering and my body limp. It’s that good.
I can’t tell what makes it so amazing, but I suspect it’s the angle of the coronal head (circled in picture). Despite the soft squishy nature of this silicone, that spot hits my g-spot with unrelenting pressure. This, plus the sheer girth of this dildo, makes for a fun ride.
I’m really happy with my David the Werewolf. I’m glad I added the suction cup feature to my dildo because it really expands my playtime options, so I also suggest you consider that customization option. Though this is a toy I’ll be using for vaginal use, its flared base makes it safe for anal play. Lastly, I really recommend you try out the soft(3) silicone firmness, because it’s some of the softest silicone you’ll come across in the industry. If you like attractive and girthy fantasy dildos, this is a good one to add to your collection.
